FOUR WALLS
2020
The journey of walking begins
As each foot moves slowly and steadily
Until we develop a subtle yet extraordinary rhythm
Going further and further
Every step faster and surer
Until it all comes to an end
An abrupt stop
A boulder in front of you
Stubborn and persistent
Not letting you move forward
But you can't retrace your steps
The only option is to stop
To stop to wait
To stop to think
To stop to realize
While you contemplate
Where you are
what you have done
What you left behind
who you have become.
Its a matter of mind over body
To regain control of your footing
To get out of the trap
Discover a new rhythm
and learn to walk again
Finally you can take a pause
A tired breath
An easing of the muscles
A curling of the toes
And an exploration of your mind
Not seeing but noticing
Not rushing but observing
Paused for a breath
Paused for a moment in time
But how long will this moment last
You need to learn to do both
Pause and walk at the same time
All of life you rushed
The beat of your footsteps unheeded
Your tempo increasing , and decreasing
Without consideration
Of where exactly you're going
Losing where your coming from
And then not knowing what you're doing
Or where you want to go to
For too long you have taken walking for granted
Now you see roadblocks wherever you go
You feet yearn to explore
But your caged inside your life
In a cycle which refuses to halt
Because you don't know how to make it stop
